OD Practitioner Case Studies: Use of Self and Scanning Organizations as Accelerators of Systems Change
This session will explore case studies of how OD practitioner skills and frameworks were applied to accelerate positive organization change. Examples to be explored are:
- A healthcare organization’s struggle to manage their workforce’s performance in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter
- An energy company’s wake-up call after observing BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico
Participants will have an opportunity workshop how to accelerate a change in their own or a client’s organization.
Biographies
Dorinda Capole is Vice President and Chief Learning Officer for the Montefiore Health System, a 10-hospital health center with 40,000 employees and a social justice mission to provide high quality care to underserved communities in New York. In this role, she is responsible for building and executing the learning, talent, OD, and change strategies. Dorinda has dedicated most of her career to helping healthcare organizations and their people achieve their greatest potential using OD as her foundation. Known for her collaborative approach and ability to bridge across functions, she has led a range of key initiatives and programs for multiple healthcare organizations, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYU Langone Health, MedStar Health, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Dorinda has a Master’s degree in Organization Development from American University/NTL Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her certifications and training include the Gestalt Organization and Systems Development Program, the Human Element, Korn Ferry/Hay Group’s Suite of Talent Assessments, Team Diagnostic Survey, Prosci Change Management, NeuroLeadership Institute Brain-Based Coaching, Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI), and others.
Ian Jones is an outcomes-focused OD consultant and executive coach with broad and global business experience. He has held several senior leadership roles in Shell, Saudi Aramco, and Novartis. In these organizations, he has been directly accountable for leading multimillion dollar, enterprise-level transformation programs, as well as the development of executive and high potential leaders. His consulting expertise is in diagnosing and intervening in high value, complex business, and social systems. Identifying interventions that will shift the system towards desired outcomes and scaling pilot interventions into sustainable solutions. As an external consultant, he has worked with Mubadala (Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund); Eurostar; IAG (British Airways); Ariane Group (Aerospace, Defence, Security) and Kingfisher (Home Improvement retail) amongst others. He has had long-term international assignments in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Netherlands, and the UK and has worked on six continents.
Ian holds an MBA from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Victoria University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. He has completed training with GestaltOSD, the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, and NTL Institute and is certified in Hogan Assessments, Kantor Model of Communication, I-OPT, and others.
