Stress Management and Self-Care for OD Professionals

It is common for clients to discuss issues of stress or to share their personal beliefs with their OD consultant.  In some cases, clients may share details of severe stress or trauma, or share personal beliefs that directly conflict with the OD professional or personal ethics.  These types of conversations can lead to intense emotional reactions for the OD professional that make it difficult to maintain presence with the client during meetings with the client.  These emotional reactions can even linger long after the meeting is over, making it difficult for the OD professional to sustain their personal wellbeing and maintain an effective practice.  This session is designed to support OD professionals in developing tools and knowledge for stress management and self-care.  During this session, the neuroscience behind stress management will be discussed along with self-compassion and self-care methodologies.

Participants will leave Greenleaf’s session with: 1) Foundational knowledge of the neuroscience behind stress and stress management, 2) The role of self-care and stress management in maintaining a positive coaching approach, 3) Experience in practicing self-compassion and other grounding techniques that assist in mitigating toxic stress, and 4) A felt experience of connection to other OD professionals interested in learning more about stress management and self-care.
