Program:
NeuroLeadership Development: A Brain-based Approach to Individual and Organizational Success | Relax, Renew, Reset.

Spring  may bring with it thoughts of getting back into physical shape. Perhaps your mind could use toning up too? Could it use a personal trainer? Because of the uncertain and increasingly complex nature of work and life, our minds are constantly challenged to stay focused (to help us finish tasks and be productive) and calm (less reactive or discouraged when things don’t go as planned with a client, project, or in our personal lives).   If you're feeling overwhelmed or fatigued from multitasking, changing course mid-stream, or just too much to do, this retreat is a unique opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and reset your mind.

Join neuroleadership coach Suzanne Kryder for the bad news/good news about your brain. She’ll explain why brains are hardwired to be naturally negative and to repeat old, unproductive habits. The best news is that you’ll learn and practice simple tools for staying relaxed, renewing your commitment to goals, and resetting your approach for success in work and life.

If you found David Rock's keynote on neuroleadership at the 2011 CBODN conference interesting or you're looking forward to the 2012 conference on resiliency, then this retreat will continue to build your knowledge base and tool kit in these two fields. You’ll learn about mindful leadership---a sub-specialty of neuroleadership---that teaches leaders a scientifically validated brain-based tool for resiliency by keeping the mind calm and concentrated.
  • Practice three brain-based skills for training your mind to be less reactive in challenging situations, improving your communication skills, and staying resilient on the job or in graduate school.
  • Describe basic structures and functions in the brain that help leaders overcome distraction and regain mental focus.
  • Understand why your brain reacts so quickly with anger or anxiety to some work and graduate school situations.
  • Use the executive center of your brain to calm your nervous system down and return to neutral in ten seconds.
About the Presenter: Suzanne Kryder

As one of the few mindful leadership coach/trainers, Suzanne’s passion is helping leaders develop a non-confrontational leadership style called Calm, Confident Power. She helps leaders train the mind to notice with precision what’s happening internally and externally, so they can consistently influence others and create lasting change.

Suzanne is certified to teach mindfulness courses as a Community Dharma Leader through Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. As a result of her mindfulness practice and training, she created the neuroleadership development system that's taught in the unique Mind to Lead mindful leadership retreats.
