DC Area OD Practitioners CoP

Topic: The Creative Force of Resistance - a Gestalt Perspective for OD Practitioners

REGISTRATION IS FULL AS OF 8/15/19

Description:  Resistance is a natural and inevitable part of any group process that occurs whenever people confront boundaries or anticipate change. Rather than seeing resistance as an obstacle, OD practitioners can use it as an opportunity to support people and promote the development of a healthy and productive organization. By participating in this session, you will learn about the Gestalt perspective on resistance and the range of interventions you might offer to a group. You will be better equipped to help groups engage productively with resistance, resulting in improved outcomes.

Participants will:

  • Learn approaches to creatively engage with resistance at the level of self, individual, and the group.
  • Gain appreciation of resistance as a normal product of any successful intervention.
  • Heighten awareness of the different forms that resistance might take, and how to distinguish those variations.
