Topic:  How to Be a Better Collaborator

Session Description: The session will help OD practitioners work with people in organizations to challenge them to reframe their thinking and improve their approach to collaborating.  The highly interactive nature of the session will focus on real time improvement of staff’s skills as collaborators.  By the end of the session participants will learn the three main characteristics of good collaborators and leave with a clear roadmap for how they can help their clients approach their next collaboration to ensure the best outcomes and a better process.

Facilitator:  Joy Spencer

As a partnership engagement and movement building professional, Ms. Joy spencer has over 13 years of experience building strong cross-sectoral coalitions and sustainable partnerships in a series of movements related to access to essential medicines, access to knowledge, consumer advocacy for digital privacy, childhood obesity and digital food marketing, women’s empowerment, diaspora engagement, and global HIV prevention education, research and policy advocacy. Currently, Ms. Spencer consults with the World Bank Sierra Leone Diaspora Trade and Investment Study as the project’s Outreach Strategy Specialist utilizing her expertise in partnership engagement, community mobilization and knowledge curation. Ms. Spencer received her Bachelor’s in Economics from the College of William and Mary and a Master’s degree in International Educational Development from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
